Hi,

They stated that the database "should not run on NFS".
Is there a way of disabling the check of the filesystemlayout?

Hi There
I am following NetApp document for migrating SCV from a Windows server to a fresh Data Broker using Snapcenter 4.2 in order to upgrade to 4.3 : https://library.netapp.com/ecm/ecm_download_file/ECMLP2858035
I'm lauching the following command for our vcenter DC1 :
Job status indicates everything is fine:
Steps are indicating the "deletion of host resources and resource groups" ... but Resource Groups remain deleted and are not recreated ...
Prior the sript, the Resource Group list is :
Once the script is done, the list is truncated and all Resource Groups concerned by the script are simply removed :
After the operation, none of the backups for DC1 are working 😕
Is there a bug or a bad argument in my usage of the script ?
I tried the command with Snapcenter 4.2. Same behavior after a fresh upgrade to 4.3.
Hi,
After migrated to Netapp databorker ,all the Resource group will be deleted from Snapcenter server and you will see in the Vsphere webclient or in the OVA only. You wont see any VMware Resource group in the Snapcenter server at all.

Hello everyone,
I just configured my first MaxDB snapshot with SnapCreator 4.3.2 framework.
Snap Creator release is 4.3.1 P3.
MaxDB release is 7.9.09.
I am now trying to make the snapshots available in MaxDB Studio, after setting the log writer handling to YES I can now see the entries under Administration -> Backups -> All. What I don't like here is the fact that BACKUP_TYPE is unknown.
I carefully read the snapshot log and at some point, during the application quiesce, the plugin is looking for a backup template. In my case the log file is as follows:
I was wondering If some of you have any ideas where to add the lines for parameter MAXDB_BACKUP_TEMPLATES. I have checked each and every tab in the GUI with no luck, nothing seems to match.
I need your guidance in finding the right configuration file at OS level (if any). I added the above parameter in /opt/SNAPCREATOR/scServer4.3.2/plugins/MAXDB/maxdb.conf and I also restarted the agent but nothing changed.
Thanks in advance.
Alex.
HI there
Thank you for the response. Given that Snapcenter can only support 2 servers in HA config and on a single site, then it appears as part of the overall DR strategy we need to have standby SC servers at the second site and to restore the backed up SC DB to before we can then orchestrate the recovery from our snapmirrored backups.
Seems a bit of a gap in the SC overall architecture that it cannot support a dual site config?
or have I missed something?
So far, snapcenter can only support active-passive configurations in up to two hosts that are in the same location. i am sharing the below video link for more info regarding SC HA:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KbjEaiMh9yA
Thanks
ok thank you for the confirmation. single site it is then.
are there any plans to address this gap so we can synchronise the SC DB across sites and have a standby pair of servers on the second ready to go in the event of a DR invocation? will save the time required to restore from backup?
HI there

Hi Bob,
I had a quick look and found this NetApp KB Article which suggests the cause might be:
and the potential solution is:
You might consider checking these links and reviewing the configuration on your server:
If that does not resolve the issue I'd suggest raising a support case. Hope that helps.

HI there Matt
Thank you for the quick response.
I am installing the agent locally on the target server, so don't think the firewall is the cause. the install is running from a privileged command prompt also.
is there any documentation on the checks/errors that the SCW plugin undertakes?
Thank you
Hi Bob,
I had a look through the documentation to troubleshoot the installation (though it's from an older version). It does mention the error code but unfortunately doesn't provide any details on what the solution is. I think if you look at step 4 here perhaps the MSI installer logs may contain more details about the error than the application install log? There doesn't appear to be any internal KB articles related to this either, perhaps it's best to raise a support case?

Hello Team,
Does the snapshots in NetApp also say the no of files and size of data that's copied? I know that only Delta transfers are copied in/through snapshots, but is there a method to check its metadata? I checked the root volume - /mroot/etc/log/snapmirrorauditlog but couldn't find what I was looking for
When a volume snapshot is created its size on the disk is zero. It locks the blocks of the volume that are in use when the snapshot is taken. If you take a volume snapshot on a volume and make no writes its size will remain zero. It will contain all the files at the time the snapshot is taken and its size on the disk will grow as writes to the volume occur.
If you are looking for snapmirror transfer information try the command:
snapmirror show-history -result success -instance
Hello
Thanks a ton for the reply. Let me explain the context in which I am looking for this particular information.
We have 3 clusters : A,B and C where A and B are FAS and C is CVO. We have migrated the data from A to B, B to C and then broken off the relationship to migrate only from A to C. Now, after resync, we have written test data in A and want to validate only that data is being copied to C. I acknowledge the fact that only the delta transfers (here the test data) would take place when snapshots would be copied, but I want to know if the specific information: file copied, size of file copied, and no of file copied- is there a way to check this in logs somewhere, maybe one of the logs in Root volume, maybe?
Hello ,
Just added a SQL cluster with 3 nodes ( all with same version )
Got this alert just to 1 node :
Supported version of Microsoft SQL Server is not installed on the host. The functionality of the SnapCenter gets blocked if the supported versions are not installed
Backups are running fine ( snapmirror-label ok ) but Vault replication failed :
Activity 'Replicating to Secondary' failed with error: Unable to find SnapMirror destination(s). Error: No SnapMirror relationships were found.
SnapCenter Server Version : 4.3.1 P2
SQL Version : SQLserver 2014 ( 12.0.6372.1 same version on all nodes )
Dear Community,
I would like to back up Caché DB with Snap Creator. I am going to use the following version of Caché -> 2018.1.
For this job there is a plugin to be found via http://mysupport.netapp.com/NOW/download/tools/snapcreator/. It looks like the plug in has been written for Caché version 1. Could it be compatible with 2018.1?
On the other hand I have tried to find TR-3987: Snap Creator Framework Plug-In for InterSystems Caché, but unfortunately without success. Is there a way to receive this document? Are there other TRs I could use regarding this topic.
In case a new plugin is needed could we find a way to provide it and who should be contacted?
Many thanks advance for your cooperation.
Regards,
Anastas Nikolov
Replication is volume based so we do not look at files. The operation for SnapMirror is block based so it is impractical to reconcile to files. The snapmirror show-history command will show the size of the transfer. To see the files that have changed we could use NetApp XCP to compare the source and destination. The "sync dry-run" will generate a report of modifications. Take a look and see if it meets your needs.

Thank you
Customer is currently running Oracle DB on 3PAR. They take snapshot to the DB data and then write the archive log into the Snapshot to make sure Snapshot is ok. After writing DB +archive log, it will be mirror to DR site.
In NetApp A800 case, as Snapshot is read-only, which means we have to clone to Flexclone in order to make Snapshot writable. However question is how to restore using Flexclone (as LUN number may change), and does it require to mirror all the data again to DR site after FlexClone is restored?
We propose 2 solutions
1. Treat Archive Log as another volume and Snapshot again (customer doesn't accept to manage 2 volumes)
2. Proof with Oracle documents saying Oracle Begin Backup is not necessary
3. Ways to restore with Flexclone without re-syncing all data to DR
Thanks
